Esalen® massage is a form of bodywork that uses slowness and presence to induce deep relaxation and provide a sense of wholeness. As a result, self-healing powers can be released as body, mind and spirit remember their own nature. In Esalen® massage, giving and receiving are equally joyful and relaxing.
This weekend will teach the basic techniques of Esalen®Massage. These include long, sensitive strokes combined with specific work on muscles, connective tissue and joints.
Classes include brief lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice sequences, and movement sessions and are designed for both individuals and couples interested in learning new approaches to massage and bodywork. Both beginners and experienced bodywork practitioners who want to refresh their basic knowledge or learn about the specifics of Esalen®Massage are welcome. After the weekend, participants will be able to give a full body massage. The course is accredited by the Esalen®Institute in California.
With the intention of expanding human potential, the Esalen® Institute began to develop Esalen® Massage, among other techniques, in the 1960s. The combination of Eastern and Western philosophy made the center for bodywork and therapy known worldwide. Fritz Perls, Ida Rolf, Moshe Feldenkrais, Stan Grof and other renowned therapists contributed their therapeutic concepts. A method emerged that is unique in its diversity.
